Life Sciences





Life sciences involve the study of all living organisms. It is also called biology. There are two main divisions in biology. They are botany and zoology.

Botany is the subdivision of biology dealing with plants.

Zoology is the subdivision of biology dealing with animals.

Anatomy studies the structure of living things.

Physiology is the study of the normal function of living things and their parts.

Ecology concern is the relationships living things have with each other and with the environment.

Some life sciences concentrate on certain kinds of organisms. Bacteriology studies bacteria, ornithology is about birds and marine biology examines plants and animals that live in the sea.

Medicine is the science that deals with the preservation of health and the treatment of disease and illness. Veterinary medicine deals with animals as opposed to humans.
